After a quick trip to Durango, I loaded up and headed to South Mineral Campground outside Silverton. I’ve been camping there annually since I was 2! Ironically, I had never summited Kendall Mountain on the bike so I packed my BA3 Superenduro pack and headed out.
The riding was easier than Imogene Pass, but it did have some very steep pitches that I had to walk!
On the way up.
The end was the best part. Totally steep and covered in skree. I had to carry my bike to the top and really earn it!
The peak was 13,274′ of elevation — nothing like bagging peaks with your mountain bike and then bombing down!
I don’t mind a little hike-a-bike!
Ironically, I discovered there is also a Kendall Mountain Trail Running Race too! I pick the good ones. I put the bike away for just a couple days and enjoyed some actual vacation and was mostly unplugged. It was great. I also did something weird – walked..errr, hiked and didn’t bring my bike along!
Awesome pictures! I can’t wait to get back to Colorado and ride with the breathtaking mountain views.
Awesome! I love CO! Never been able to mountain bike there though
