Dre Baldwin went from playing NCAA D3 basketball to a nine-year basketball pro. His path to the highest level fo the sport required a level of discipline and toughness that drove him to build his “Work On Your Game” brand to share those tenets with a wider audience.
He is now a full-time entrepreneur who has authored 29 books and participated in TEDxTalks about discipline, confidence, mental toughness and personal initiative. He’s active on YouTube and has a daily Work On Your Game Podcast.
Sonya and Dre had a great conversation this week about how to go from thinking to action, self-belief, building confidence, choosing oneself and more.
“The first thing I tell people is discipline builds confidence. One of the best ways to start building your confidence, even if it’s you by yourself, is for you to have the discipline of showing up every day and just doing work, whatever that work is, whether it’s practicing basketball, whether it’s writing if you want to be a writer, getting on a microphone if you want to be a podcaster, working on your communication if you want to be a speaker. It’s just, doing the work every day gives you the confidence that you can do the thing.”
