I had a great holiday at home in New Mexico. I got in some good rides and some other adventures in the snow! It was actually warmer in Boulder for the 2nd week I was in Albuquerque which is kind of crazy! Here are some of the things I’ve been doing.
Rode up Sandia with snowshoes and shoes on my back and attempted to walk around. It got totally soaked on the slushy roads coming down and was a frozen, red dirt covered mess. It was epic though!
A few days later, I ditched the bike and headed up to South Crest Trail via Embudito
Made sure I was still a good shot
I even joined my old gym for 2 weeks. I hadn’t been there in 8 years and I got to see some old friends.
On Dec 31, I bolted home to Boulder to make it just in time for dinner and a party on New Year’s Eve with some friends.
This was the first year I dressed up and actually wore heels…. and I lasted the whole night in them. Must have been the champagne. I can be girly after all!
Rachel, Jeff O, and I headed up to Eldora on Jan 1. I had never been nordic skiing. Jeff O was a great teacher and taught me the basics. Rachel had only been a few times as well so I had someone to ski with. It was very humbling and a lot of fun! It’ll take some time to develop the skills and then I’m hoping to get some killer workouts!
Trying to glide uphill….trying….
The Yak Attack in Nepal is only 8 weeks away! It’s great to get back in the swing of things. I missed my long Boulder climbs through the canyons and my yoga classes. I’m also continuing with strength training and am starting to see those gains translate over to the bike.
I’m trying to be better about posting, but I post a lot of stuff on my twitter and facebook…so if you want moreLooney, there’s more there!
Welcome to 2012!!!! It’s going to be an amazing year!

I’m putting some more skis on my feet tomorrow, but this time to SHRED DOWNHILL! The snow is lame around here, but I’ll make the best of it.
My next post will be the best and worst of 2011. In the meantime, check out
Thank you to everyone who has been with me through all my adventures. I feel incredibly blessed and fortunate. I’ve come a long way since my first race…both in fitness, in my life, inspirit, in self acceptance and awareness. It’s been an incredible journey. Here’s to more in 2012!!!!!!
and 2009.
