Today, I actually went mountain biking… like on singletrack with lots of rocks! And the crazy part is that it was right here in Colorado, and it was 60F outside. Despite being blown from a long road ride yesterday, and all the climbing the day before that, I had a great time. My cheeks were hurting from smiling. My buddy Jason was there to partake in the fun.
It felt odd to ride singletrack. I can admit that my confidence is not where it normally is on the mountain bike due to lack of time spent on the trails, but it will be back!!!
I don’t get out to Jefferson County to ride very often because normally if I’m going to drive 45 minutes, I go up into the mountains and ride at Ned. However, my Ned trails are blanketed in snow so out to Jeffco we went. We hit up Red Rocks, Morrison Slide, Dakota Ridge, and Green Mountain. There were a lot of other mountain bikers and hikers out thanking their lucky stars for the lovely weather.
Still some snow on the trails in Jeffco… but with the warm temps it wasn’t icy.
Jason was riding awesome today!!
Short ups and downs. The Green Mountain dirt climb definitely reminded me how sore my legs were today from training this week.
One more day of fully enjoying the sunshine, and then we will pay our January dues… check out Tuesday. Brrrrr, that’ll be a trainer/yoga/gym type of day.
My housemate got me out to a Moto-cross (Arena Cross) race in Denver tonight. That was pretty cool… I’d be terrified to launch that high in the air! I’d spend too much time worrying about what would happen if I didn’t make it. My brain gets in the way!
Bedtime for me…being back training and on the bike definitely is noticeable in my energy levels. I look forward to sleeping! One more solid day, and then some rest (and snow!)
