Another 5 hour day today, but this time, I took the road bike. You know, if I put a flat bar on my road bike, I’d be so much happier riding it. I know they make special road components for that kind of thing, but it’s not really an option now (I can’t justify spending the $$ on it when I have perfectly good road components). Just a pointless thought. 🙂 It was supposed to be “warm” today, but it was really cloudy most of the day and snowing around 9000′. That meant one thing: WIND down low. A couple of times, I had to use almost my easiest gear on the road bike to pedal into the wind. It’s all training, right? 🙂
Anyway, here are a couple of things that made my ride A-OK today:
The chilly view from Carter Lake.
The past 2 days, it’s been my special little treat to stop at a convenience store in Hygeine (about an hour ride to get home) and buy some candy to power through to the end. Yesterday, it was Skittles. Today, it was NERDS ROPE! mmmm. Sugar! The beauty is that I will burn it off before even getting home.
And last, but certainly not least, I listened to some new tunes. This was used in the Leadville movie, and is a nice break from what I normally listen to (techno/rock). Plus, it got the determination up! [click photo, but watch out, it plays music]
Time to go to some yoga to stretch out those sore muscles. Tomorrow is a rest day, thank goodness, and many bike shop visits in CO Springs.
Looney the only base you should be concerned about right know is Vail’s.
haha! I can’t afford a ski pass, and I don’t have the equipment either! I do have a 4 pass to Loveland, I’ll rent for those days.
just wanted to say that I saw your blog on BikeBlogs.com and Congrats on being in the top five. I really like that Hygiene store and I wonder how much of their business is bikers. Hopefully the weather here will stay nice for a few more days
