…and I’m back! BC Bike Race was a really fun and challenging race on many levels. I can’t wait to tell you about it. I had some good days and some very bad days on the bike, but one thing was sure, every day was real mountain biking and will not be forgotten!
Before I dive into BC Bike Race, I wanted to dig out an old piece I wrote in September 2009. It was one of the first feature pieces I ever wrote for a magazines. This one was for an online mag called Nectar, and I got the honors to write a piece for their first issue. I hate to title this blog post the way I did because while the story is the core of the apple, there are so many other life benefits to cycling not mentioned here. Maybe that’ll be your homework. How has cycling changed your life?
I wrote a tweet today (@looneysonya if you’re not following along…) that made me think of this piece. It was about how cycling changes your life in so many ways. I honestly can’t imagine what my life would be like if I had never found it. It’s taken me places I never dreamed I’d go, and I’ve met so many inspiring people over the 8, almost 9 year journey so far.
Some things I do on the bike are pretty mainstream. Others are things people wrinkle their nose at and say, “Ew, I’d never want to do that.” When I sat down this morning and read a piece I wrote 3 years ago after my first season of endurance racing, I realized that it’s become even more pivotal in my life. Some of you have been following me for years while others may be more new so if you haven’t see this piece here you go:
If you don’t want to read screen shots, you can download the pdf of the issue here, and go to page 61. Thanks for reading.
