This week’s episode is a speech I gave about my journey as a plant-based athlete at the San Francisco Veg Fest (called the World Veg Fest). It was my first time to a VegFest and first time speaking outside the bike world about my diet. I wanted to share it with you on my podcast.
There will be a video available soon of the speech as well so you’ll be able to see the accompanying slides. I’ll update this post with the video after I receive it.
Topics Discussed in the Podcast
- My background pertaining to making changes in life
- A brief history of my career as a Professional Cyclist
- My transition to eating a plant-based diet. Here’s an associated blog post with resources about my journey.
- How to be inclusive and build community
- Top 5 Performance Enhancing Foods
Links
- Powered Tribe Facebook Group I started. Everyone is welcome (you don’t have to eat a plant-based diet. It’s for people who are interested in adding in more healthy foods and a community group where everyone can participate in the conversation)

Thanks so much for listening to my show. It means a lot to me that you take the time to listen to the podcast each week and I also really appreciate the iTunes ratings, those helping me financially support the show on Patreon with as little as $4/month, sharing the show with your friends, and for your messages of encouragement. It means the world to me that this show helps you be more motivated to be healthier, spend time fostering personal growth in whatever ways are significant to you, and that I can bring nutritional information too! Your feedback is greatly appreciated and it helps me stay motivated as well! I couldn’t do it without you guys!
I am on my way to Brazil today for my last race of the season- Brasil Ride! It’s a 7 day stage race. I’ve done it a few times, but this time it’s a new course I’ve never ridden. The previous course is up there among the hardest stage races I’ve ever done. I’ll be racing this one with Gordon Wadsworth in the Mixed category. Follow my adventure and race on my Instagram stories and posts!
Support the Show
If you like my show, I’m aiming to make it an ad-free zone using crowdfunding to support it. All donations will go directly to the production of the show. I’m raising money using Patreon. A lot of podcasts sell ads to cover the production costs of the show, which can be quite high. I am not a fan of ads when I listen to podcasts so my goal is make this podcast an ad-free zone. The currently production of this free show is primarily supported out of my own pocket and a small portion is covered through the donations on Patreon. With my Patreon page, you can donate directly to the show which will help me cover the costs each week. If you find value and enjoy this show, you can donate any amount 200 dollars per month to as little as one dollar per episode (which is only 4 dollars a month!) I really appreciate your support!
Crowdfunding on Patreon – thank you!
