Pre-Interbike – the desert

By September 13, 2011March 22nd, 2017No Comments

We made it Las Vegas after the trek in the Ergon Sprinter Van! We stopped in St. George on Saturday night and got to ride with with Dave Harris (aka, crackhead #1).

I got in a little bit of riding in Boulder before we left amongst the I-bike prep.

It was quite a contrast on Sunday.  I have only ridden in St. George once, and that was 2 or 3 years ago for Camp Lynda. I love mountain riding, but it was nice to be back in the desert. I grew up in New Mexico, so I can appreciate the desert too. My favorite part of our ride were the colors. The bright green-yellowish bushes balanced the red cliffs and dirt. It had rained the night before so our tires left fresh tracks and we were alone.

After Park City, I am still feeling some fatigue since I started the race with Breck Epic fatigue, but I have almost a week off the bike.  We also got some rain last week, so I was off the bike for 4 days.  Rest block.  Ride block.  Repeat.

This type of riding was good training for Brazil.  That’s my last mountain bike race of the year – a difficult 7 day stage race in Brazil at the end of October called Brasil Ride. After Interbike, my training ramps up pretty hard for this race as well as some CX racing!

We arrived in Vegas on Sunday. Yesterday, Jeff and I headed out to Dirt Demo to do some mingling. We also rode for about an hour and a half on the trails. Jeff took a couple short videos.
